About me.

I work from my studio in county Mayo, on the wild Atalantic way, with views across bogland to Croagh Patrick. I am not a native Mayo woman, I moved here many years ago when the lure of the west of Ireland got the better of me and I came on an adventure, and stayed.

I have always been creative, working in design and print all my life.    Some years ago I came across an encaustic painting and was intrigued. Further investigation led to some workshops in this magical medium and immediately I became hooked.

This process of melting pigment-laiden wax and painting with it never ceases to thrill me. It can be a tricky medium – opaque, waxy, super-fast-drying paint  – which is very much part of the fun as there is always an element of surprise and results in paintings that are full of amazing texture and vibrancy.

I like to paint people, well, faces in particular as that is where the emotion is. I am drawn to expressive art and like to produce art that is full of emotion and expression.
